Information Security Specialist

The Information Security Specialist is to be responsible for designing, testing, implementing and monitoring security measures for organization's systems. Detecting and preventing cyber threats whilst ferreting out weaknesses in the company’s infrastructure and finding creative ways to protect it.

Job Role

As an Information Security Specialist your key responsibilities are:

  • As part of the Information Security Team working closely with Information Security Manager to operate a companywide, business risk centric information security management system.
  • Analyze IT specifications to assess security risks
  • Design and implement safety measures and data recovery plans
  • Install, configure, upgrade and support security tools.
  • Secure networks through firewalls, password protection and other systems
  • Perform vulnerability testing, risk analysis and security assessments
  • Inspect hardware for vulnerable points of access
  • Organize and conduct tests and “ethical hacks” of the existing security architecture
  • Monitor network activity to identify issues early and communicate them to the relevant teams
  • Determines security violations and inefficiencies by conducting periodic audits.
  • Respond immediately to security incidents and provide post-incident analysis
  • Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
  • Prepare reports and action plans in the event that a security breech does occur
  • Serve as a security expert and conduct trainings when needed
  • Draft policies and guidelines

Skills & Requirements

Proven experience of:

  • Demonstrated ability to work within a global
  • Ability to adapt and be highly effective in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and risk management methodologies
  • Strong IT skills and knowledge including hardware, software and networks
  • A forensic approach to challenges
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of IT infrastructures
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and fix security risks.
  • Good team working skills to develop security solutions in collaboration with other information technology professionals.
  • Outstanding communication and organization skills
  • Ability to work under close supervision, as well as the ability to take independent initiative when needed
  • Decision-making skills
